WEEK FOUR
The Reproduction of
Epiphany Station
1] Reproduction is a natural and necessary component of life. If you have children, how did you feel at these stages? When you first discovered you were pregnant? When you gave birth? Their first day of school? Their graduation or marriage?
2] While about 4,000 new churches start every year, the same number close ever year, while populations continue to climb. At this rate, the number of unchurched Americans is increasing at a rate of 1 million people per year. We are drastically losing ground. Why do you think this is? What can we do to reverse the trend?
3] Reproducing churches is part of [e]stat's mission. Does this scare you, excite you, or confuse you? Why do you think this is so foundational to who we are?
4] Matthew 28:18-20 is often called "The Great Commission." What is the basis for the commission (v. 18)? Who is it for (who should go)? What is the scope? What is the intended result? What is Jesus' promise (v. 20)?
5] Jesus tells us in Acts 1:8 that the Holy Spirit will provide the power for witnessing. Do you believe we have this power? What does it look like? Look at a Bible atlas (you may have one in the back of your Bible). If TRF is our "Jerusalem," where is our "Judea," "Samaria," and "ends of the earth?"
6] God has given us a vision for helping to start 5 new churches in 5 years. What do you see your role being in helping to make this vision a reality?
WEEK TWO
Souled-out Worship
1] What does it mean to be completely sold-out to/for something or someone?
2] Have you ever had a truly powerful experience? Describe it. What made it powerful? Where were you? Who were you with? Was it spiritual? What made it so?
3] Take some time to discuss the 60-4-60 Challenge. Hows it going? Is God telling you anything?
4] Holiness is the only attribute of God that is repeated (see Isaiah 6:3 & Revelation 4:8). Do you think this is significant? Why do you think holiness is exalted above other attributes of God like love, mercy, goodness, kindness, justice, etc.?
5] Pick one or two of the six points from Isaiah 6:1-8 to discuss further. Which one(s) really challenge you? How does this passage deepen your understanding of worship?
6] What are some ways we can worship God without music?
WEEK ONE
Embracing the Outsider &
Heartfelt Prayer
1] Last week, Jeff showed the trailer from the 1983 classic, The Outsiders. Have you seen it? Do you have a favorite outsiders-type movie?
2] Last week, Jeff shared the first part of our mission: embracing outsiders. How did this sit with you? Did it excite you? Scare you? Confuse you? What are some barriers that may keep us from accomplishing this mission?
3] This Sunday, Jeff shared some reasons why people dont pray more. Which reason is most true for you, or is there another reason? What do you think is keeping prayer from being the heart of our church right now?
4] Of the four alls from the sermon, which one is the biggest struggle for you right now? Which one is easiest?
5] Read Philippians 4:6 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 together. Discuss the relationship of prayer to each of the following: worry; joy; and thanksgiving. Do these things lead us to prayer or are they a result of prayer?
6] Take the 60-4-60 challenge. Write down your experiences and share them with your group next week.
